The SR Aquaristik PRO Cal 150 Calcium Reactor is a great way to maintain a balanced amount of calcium and alkalinity in your reef tank. All SR Aquaristik calcium reactors are built using flame polished cell-cast acrylic cylinders and quality components.
How It Works:
A calcium reactor consists of a reactor cylinder that is filled with crushed coral skeletons made from dead hard coral. Aquarium water mixed with CO2 is pumped through the reactor. The CO2 creates carbonic acid that lowers the pH in the reactor which then dissolves the crushed coral into the aquarium water. In addition to dissolving the calcium, this process also creates almost all of the minerals and trace elements that the coral uses to grow.
