How It Works
A calcium reactor consists of a reactor cylinder that is filled with crushed coral skeletons made from dead hard coral. Aquarium water mixed with CO2 is pumped through the reactor. The CO2 creates carbonic acid that lowers the pH in the reactor which dissolves the crushed into the aquarium water. In addition to dissolving the calcium, this process also creates almost all minerals and trace elements the coral uses to grow.
